Smorgasbord Productions is a
small animation house currently seeking projects.
Our immediate staff includes a number of freelance
animators, storyboard artists, inbetweeners,
clean-up artists and colorists. We can currently
be commissioned for small projects at very
reasonable rates. Our focus is primarily
traditional 2D cell animation. However, we do have
the ability to work in 3D.
Contact
us if you would be
interested like to see additional samples or a
price quote on your project.

- Spin Cycle Animated Credits
Smorgasbord's first real animation
project was to animate the credit sequence for the short
film Spin Cycle. It was a lot of fun and allowed
us to be us to be really creative. The concept was to
depict the protagonist, Joe, a frantic hapless guy, as
he attempts to reach the girl of his dreams by phone. We
depicted him in each of the emotions in his many failed
attempts: Nervousness- sweating nervously before he makes
the call, Anger-as he bangs his head against the wall
repeated, and Despair- as he spins down an endless
spiral. We designed him to appear as a rough sketch,
thereby indicating that he was not refined as a person
and still needed some work as a person. (See, we made it
look a bit messy on purpose!) The animation turned out
great! It really sets up the film nicely, especially
since the film, although live action, has the animated
slap-stick feel of a cartoon. David Kolodny-Nagy drew the
animation by hand. Ted Purvis was the After Effects
compositer and added additional effects to the animation.

Wolf Crown Animation is a division
of Smorgasbord that focuses on 3D animation and adult themed
animation. The animation company was started in 1995 by a
daring young comic book artist named Dustin McBeth. Mcbeth
worked hard at learning the fundamentals of animation and
branched quickly into 3D animation, learning Alias Wavefront
software. His early 3D animation shorts are some of the best
examples of the flexibility and options avaiable through 3D.
Whether he busy programming the dense atmosphere of an
alien world, a high-tech space ship or the detailed rim of a
bean can, this animator is truly an inspiration to all at
our small company. He continues to branch out further into
animation and has expanded now into plastic molding. Of
course, McBeth is still a comic book artist at heart and is
never too busy to teach lessons to the young who seek the
old glory of comics. Contact: www.wolfcrown.com
